Growth Notes

The words I say, and you say, matter.

I once read the biography of Albert Einstein.

The author of the bio, Walter Isaacson, referenced an experience that Einstein had while at a train station - in order to further explain something about Einstein’s incremental research on his theory of relativity.

In summary, Einstein realized that people are wrong when they say “the train will show up at the station at 7”. Rather, Einstein pointed out that the correct way to say such a statement needs to be, “the train will show up at the station when the hour hand on the clock hits 7.”

There can be multiple lessons taken from this.

In context of what I’m discussing here, it goes to show that the words we say matter.

Not to be hesitant to speak as though one is timid and scared, but rather intricate and detailed in speaking because the words we say influence our mind and our world around us.

2 great examples that were on my X feed recently:

  • talking about being a “Time Billionaire”

  • My friend Tom talking about how we he will no longer joke about being depressed, having anxiety, or killing himself.

As the posts says:

”The Rapper Big Sean was diagnosed with “heart disease” at 19…

Told he needed open heart surgery.

Then went to a holistic doctor who prescribed him magnesium.

The “heart disease” then magically disappeared.”

This story is from Raising Canes founder, Todd Graves, while on a podcast with host Theo Von.

Persistence is a common trait of those who built something great.

“Everything that we do is about the process of what it takes to get the results.” (Nick Saban)
