Growth Notes
Hi everyone,
This is a fresh thought, so I want to serve it to you while it’s hot.
Are you ready???
When you have a mindset of expectation (a readiness for what is to come) it means you have a framework for faith to flourish.
“How so?”, you ask…..
And you follow-up with, “Why is this so significant?”…..
Yesterday, while I was on a 6-mile walk along Austin's Boardwalk Blvd trail, I spotted my good friend Jaime coming my way — but headed in the opposite direction.
It’s been a while since I saw him, so we decided to walk together for a moment.
As we walked in a stride-for-stride flow, a reflection of the similar wavelength we were on, we settled upon one particular point that caught my interest — which is what I’m now sharing with you on a beautiful platter.
Jaime and I are at an inflection point in our lives in which we are exercising patience towards our business ventures. We are ambitious men, yet there are seasons in life when waiting is absolutely obligatory.
Currently, we’re both in that season.
As we laughed and talked, we also discussed how much we’ve been preparing during this season.
“I’m so READY TO GO. I’ve done everything I possibly could to prepare”, I enthusiastically said.
Jaime joined in agreement by giving a huge chuckle and nod. He is in the same boat.
Which led us to this concluding thought: That is exactly what we NEED to be doing. To do anything less, is showing a lack of faith.
“How so?”, you ask again…..
I’ll tell you the example I immediately gave to Jaime at this point in our walk.
I told him it’s like someone going to a buffet with a plate
or
someone going to a buffet without a plate.
How can you be prepared to serve yourself and eat, YOUR EXPECTATION, if you don’t have the plate to do so, YOUR PREPAREDNESS.
You see, many people ask for something but don’t actually show they want what they’re asking for.
To show up with a positive, pragmatic EXPECTATION (or call it READINESS), means you have the faith for that ONE THING to be given to you.
It’s like the story of Jehoshaphat, which Jaime and I discussed, where he sends men ahead of his army to praise God before their battle:
“After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the Lord and to praise him for the splendor of his holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying: ‘Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever.’”
— 2 Chronicles 20:21
Spoiler: Jehoshaphat and his army ended up winning the battle.
Like Jehoshaphat giving thanks before the battle was won — and as I talked about with Jaime and I regarding this season in our lives — we must enter into situations with an expectation that we will be guaranteed a victory.
I hope you all learn from this as greatly as I did,
Anthony

Quotes + More Quotes
“If you can’t see very far ahead, go ahead as far as you can see.” — Dawson Trotman
“The whole course of things goes to teach us faith. We need only obey. There is guidance for each of us, and by lowly listening, we shall hear the right word.” — Emerson
"A master in the art of living draws no sharp distinction between his work and his play; his labor and his leisure; his mind and his body; his education and his recreation. He hardly knows which is which. He simply pursues his vision of excellence through whatever he is doing, and leaves others to determine whether he is working or playing. To himself, he always appears to be doing both." — Unknown
