Growth Notes
As I mentioned in my No. 8 Friday Foursight newsletter on 1/5/24, this is my year of reinforcement.
I’m strengthening the foundation of the principles that guide me in my life.
One example of that is rereading books. The Bible is the main book I consistently read. That will be the case for the rest of my life.
Other books I’ve reread to start the year are The Four Agreements and The Almanack of Naval Ravikant: A Guide to Wealth and Happiness.

When it comes to making progress in learning something new, the results in the beginning are visible.
Maybe that’s why people give up so easily.
Yes, it can also factor from a slew of reasons such as not understanding the “why” as to what’s being done or not having an environment conducive to reinforce the process.
But more often than not, just like New Year’s Resolutions, forming new learnings are quickly abandoned because there are no tangible results at first.
Think about that for a moment?!
There is a given “framework” for how things occur. Yet, we can often act as though there isn’t one.
If there is a known framework of massive action x lots of time = lagging tangible results, then that should solve everything.
We know what need’s to be done!

“Water the bamboo” metaphor can be best applied here.
“It's a concept based on the type of bamboo that grows like no other plant in the world: If you water giant timber bamboo in the first year, nothing happens. If you water the second year, nothing happens. If you water the third year, nothing happens. But when you water the bamboo the fourth year, it will rocket up an astonishing 90 feet in only 60 days.”1
Me newly writing on Substack is a “water the bamboo” process.
Me building a new business is a “water the bamboo” process.
Me posting on YouTube is a “water the bamboo” process.
Look at my past 4 YouTube video thumbnails + titles.
I’m learning how to water the bamboo. Most importantly, I’m enjoying the process.

“Good process, repeated over time, leads to good outcomes. Focusing only on the outcome or result leads to short term thinking. Committing to a process, that matters, and makes a difference, is what will bring good outcomes. Trying something for a week or month and expecting results is a path to disappointment.“ — Doug Mauter
God bless,

What does it take to be positively consistent? This video encapsulates it well.
"I loved every minute of it, however hard it had been" — Andrew Wiles
This is Andrew Wiles. He solved an almost unsolvable problem called Fermat's Last Theorem.
”For years, Wiles worked in secret on this incredible hard math problem. In 1994, he finally presented a proof, and it was a big deal because the problem was unsolved for over 300 years!”
As one YouTube comments said, “His solution involved deep concepts from mathematics, linking together different areas in a way no one had before. It was like solving a centuries-old puzzle that many thought might be impossible.”
Danny Woodhead is a NFL veteran. He played football on a professional level for 10+ years.
His story of being discounted in high school football, to excelling in college football at the D2 level, to going undrafted in the 2008 NFL draft, to not making the Jets roster in his first season, to making a huge impact on the Patriots as a skills player, to going on to play for 10+ years in the NFL, to now… striving to qualify for the U.S Open in golf.
He is a representation of what happens when you believe in yourself, have talent, work hard, and persist until the end goal is met.
