Growth Notes
Hello all,
Three growth notes for you today: (1) chess (2) AI and my Annual Report (3) The Power of Aligned Men.
I separated the topics into sections.
Enjoy reading and comment what you found most insightful and applicable.
CHESS
Big announcement.
I’m in a new lifelong relationship.
A very serious one too.
Her name is chess and I’m officially obsessed with her.
Yes, that’s right.
Chess.
It’s one of the most creative, perennial games ever created, which dates back to the 6th century — and it’s mind bendingly fun.
Whoever created this magnificent game of squares and pieces, whether it was one man or several, deserves an honorary award for one of the greatest inventions ever.
Just look at the insane, compounding quantity of combinations each game of chess produces.

3 moves in and there are 120,000 possible positions.
Think about that!!!
I’ve never felt myself so dedicated to an activity as I have with chess — besides when I competitively played sports for 15 years of my life and when I discovered my lifelong love for building brands and businesses 5 years ago.
I know chess is going to be a lifelong activity I strive to master, and sense that I truly love it, because I find myself accidentally missing meals just so I can grasp more minutes to play chess.
I was up until midnight the other night gluing my practice board with the number combos of a chess set.
Anything to get an edge and learn this game — and I enjoyed every minute of it.

When obsessively engulfed in the war-like game of chess to get better, I’ve been alternating between the following:
Constantly playing live games and tournaments on chess.com,
Progressing through chess courses on Chessable, lichness.org, and chess.com
Gearing up my skill repertoire with openings, endgames, and tactics/strategies
+ practicing with a mentor friend of mine who has a 2000+ elo rating in chess (for those who don’t know the chess ranking system, that is very high!).
My mentor friend, Tom, best encapsulated chess when he sent me this text:

Chess is like math art sport science philosophy psychology etc all in one.
With that being the case, how can someone dislike chess??
My goal with chess is to play for fun the rest of my life and gain the highest possible elo (player rating) possible.

AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE)
I'm creating my yearly Annual Report on Happiness for 2024 and I’m using ChatGPT to help me.
There is nothing more fitting than 2024 than getting the help of AI to craft my report.
I prompted ChatGPT by giving it my 2024 journal entries, writings, and many essays. I attached this years journal entry document of 21,377 words via pdf.
From there, I asked it to generate a report for me with the specific request to infuse my personality into the writing (ChatGPT now knows my personality based on the many historical conversations we’ve had).
This year’s report is going to be more qualitative and original, not focusing so much on facts and quantitative info this time around.
Once ChatGPT creates an outline and rough draft for me, I’m going to take back the steering wheel and drive this report home with my own, individual critiquing.
That is what AI is for: assistance with the hard stuff.
I’m excited to try this out and for you to read it soon.
MEN
You all know how much I appreciate the masculine nature and ability for men to band together for the sake of betterment.
As much as I’ve been gifted with highly talented groups of men throughout my life by way of sports, school, and business, I’ve also taken destiny into my hands to create a personally tailored group of the most elite men in my life.
It’s called the A1 Group.
Categorize it as a Master Mind, with each man having a unique skillset that he brings to the table — because you can’t be seated at this table by being average.
With such standards, comes accountability, high-value conversations, intentional connections, and lifting each other towards higher levels of individual, and thus collective, success.
I saw this post on X yesterday and it is exactly true about brotherhoods:

I want to be a man, and be around men, that the system (the Matrix) fears most.
Men that speak the truth and live for more than just themselves.
With all of that said, I send you a Happy New Year and many blessings.
Thank the Lord Jesus Christ for the most transformative year of my life so far.
With my best and nothing less,
Anthony

I’ve been writing annual reports since 2018 as a way of documenting my annual learnings and state of well-being in my life.
It has since evolved to include an ocean-of-depth more.
I’m excited to cap of 2024 with another annual report — aiming for a release date of 1st week of January.
